Background
I grew up in a farming community in northwest Missouri, about an hour
from Kansas City. Life in a small town afforded me the opportunity to
try my hand at many interests, from drama, to music, to academic bowls.
I sewed many of my own clothes and worked in the town flower shop. My
least favorite task was delivering casket pieces to the funeral home!
For a unique life experience story, you can ask me why I've appeared on
television several times in my life. Since I was very active in my church and county youth group mission, I
chose to attend Baylor University in Waco, Texas. There I grew in my
faith as well as obtained a degree in psychology.
I am currently the Media Clerk at Knight
Elementary School in Gwinnett County. I cut my educational "teeth" on the developmental
philosophy modeled at Knight. I have also been a Kindergarten Paraprofessional at Arcado Elementary School, but
education is actually my third career. After obtaining a Masters in
Counseling Psychology, I served as a Mental Health Counselor for several
years. Then I stayed at home, training our children and volunteering my time and talents
in the community and our church. With the encouragement of my dear
Knight colleagues, I am venturing back to school to earn my Masters in School Library Media at the University of Georgia.
This Fall (2007), I will be the Media Specialist
at Partee Elementary School, in the Shiloh cluster of Gwinnett County. I
look forward to serving the learning community there.

Family
I have been married to Doug 25 years and we have two wonderful children, Dorian, age 18, and Mark, age 14. Dorian enjoys
Christian music, Parkview Band, and leading a middle school girls Bible
Study at our church. She will be attending Union University this fall,
majoring in Nursing. Mark enjoys baseball, basketball, Gamecube, and middle school youth group.
He writes great stories and makes creative projects. His favorite
summertime activity is Kanakuk Christian sports camp in the Missouri
Ozarks. Our dog, Roxxi,
fits our family perfectly! We like to play board games, play outside,
watch movies, and just talk together. Our family has had the opportunity
to examine our priorities and reflect on God's faithfulness and
provision since Doug's corporate lay-off in 2001. We share very close relationships with grandparents in Little Rock and Memphis.

Favorites
My interests include sewing, decorating, reading, and teaching as a
volunteer in our church. For our 25th wedding anniversary, my
husband and I were able to join a group touring the Holy Land. This was
one of the most inspiring events of my life. Years of Bible study were
brought to life and our understanding was enhanced by this once in a
lifetime trip. This was part of the inspiration for studying the Early
Church for my I-Search project.
